Our Impact
Life at Koru Camp revolves around nature. From the sunrise announcing the beginning of the day to sharing stories under the stars at night, each moment is shaped by the environment around us. As we strive to foster a deeper understanding for nature, we prioritise spending time away from a classroom and immersed in the outdoors. Morning and afternoon educational safaris form the centrepiece of our programme, supported by in-camp lessons, interactive games and thought-provoking activities.
At Koru Camp, our impact extends beyond the wilderness – it transforms lives by empowering individuals and uplifting communities.
Whether it’s an intern gaining confidence in their career path or a nonprofit partner witnessing a shift in mindset among local youth, the stories of those we work with are a testament to the power of education, opportunity, and nature.

Sustainability
Sustainability guides both our daily operations and our approach to conservation education. We aim to lead by example – showing that responsible, eco-conscious living is both practical and achievable. Here are some of our commitments towards a more sustainable future for both communities and conservation:
- Operate a fully off-grid, solar-powered camp
- Build using low-impact, durable materials such as bamboo
- Encourage a “take only what you need” approach to water and resource use
- Serve a vegetarian menu using locally sourced ingredients
- Actively recycle to minimise waste
- Introduce an on-site composting and vegetable gardens

My favourite part was seeing a white rhino and spotted hyenas with my own eyes. I loved playing and creating memories with others and the food we had was so delicious. The camp taught me to have care for animals.
