Who are we
Situated in the Greater Kruger, our camp was born out of the idea that conservation is not just about protecting wildlife, but also about people – and the role they play in the future of this landscape.
Founded in 2022, Koru Camp is a nonprofit, educational safari camp exclusively for use by local communities.
Situated in the Greater Kruger, our camp was born out of the idea that conservation is not just about protecting wildlife, but also about people – and the role they play in the future of this landscape. Championing collaboration and community-led conservation, our camp supports young people, educators, vulnerable groups, and community leaders to build knowledge, confidence, and a sense of belonging in nature.
We work in partnership with NGOs, schools, and community organisations to host interactive, multi-day camps that bring people into the wild in a way that is safe, meaningful, and memorable.Â
Through these immersive experiences in nature, we aim to reconnect historically excluded communities with their natural heritage – inspiring understanding, building passion, and ultimately reducing the burden of poaching on our fragile wildlife populations
Where are we
Koru Camp is situated in the Mvuu Private Nature Reserve in Limpopo, South Africa. Bordering the Olifants River, the reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem – a vast, unfenced landscape home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, including the Big Five and endangered species such as African wild dogs.
Our Approach
At Koru Camp, we believe learning happens best through experience. Our camps are built around immersive stays in the bush – combining game drives, hands-on activities, and shared moments to create experiences that are engaging, practical, and memorable. We work closely with our partners to shape each camp around their group, ensuring it is relevant and meaningful.

Our Team
Alongside the incredible wilderness that surrounds our camp, it is our team that truly brings Koru Camp to life. We are proud to have a diverse team that draws upon local talent from within our communities as well as experienced leaders and board members in the nonprofit sector.
